Abstract:

This paper introduces an innovative toolkit designed for creating robot simulations, utilizing a functional concise scripting language tailored for educational settings. The approach involves the adoption of functional concise scripts to construct an engaging and user-friendly simulation environment. These scripts are designed with simplified service commands and a minimal set of options, making them accessible to users with varying levels of expertise. In our experimental evaluation, we conducted a two-day training course where participants were guided through the process of building their own robotics simulation environments. The results demonstrated that, despite their initial skill levels, users were able to effectively construct and manipulate simulated robots within the designated timeframe. This underscores the toolkit's potential as an effective educational resource for teaching robotics concepts and fostering hands-on learning experiences.
