Abstract:

Most railway companies are currently using the traditional maintenance system which can cause the problems such as erroneous maintenance work, and unnecessary maintenance tasks. Moreover, safety is a significant factor in rolling stock industries, the most well-known and widely applied maintenance optimization strategy is so-called Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) to develop effective maintenance strategies to deal with the problems. This paper aims to make the discussion for the implementation of RCM for rolling stock in Myanma Railways. Therefore, the paper presents RCM implementation for the Diesel Hydraulic and Diesel Electric locomotives from the reliability point of view. Finally, it recommends a modified maintenance plan which can improve the maintenance productivity by decreasing downtimes of operating locomotives.
