Abstract:

For the study of road accessibility, the spatial syntax is an important theoretical method, as the topological relationship between road networks is approached using a spatial syntax. This paper proposes a method to evaluate the accessibility of road networks. Considering the availability of data and the limitations of existing studies, we the city of Pokhara, Nepal, a medium-sized developing city that is rarely reported in existing studies, as the study area. Understanding the formation and growth patterns of metropolitan road networks assists in the development of a cost-effective and long-term transportation system. The results highlighted areas with high accessibility in the city and proved the vital role of the accessibility analysis in transportation planning, making it an applicable approach to identify active movement corridors at the city scale.
