Abstract:

With the rapid advancement of electronic devices, digital publications have gained significant traction in our daily lives, becoming a preferred medium for accessing information, literature, and other forms of content. However, the intrinsic properties of digital content present substantial challenges, as this content can be easily copied, transferred, and reproduced without proper safeguards in place. Therefore, it is essential for publication providers to implement robust control measures to secure and manage the distribution of their digital materials effectively. Digital Rights Management (DRM) is a comprehensive framework that integrates various techniques aimed at protecting the intellectual property rights associated with digital publications and preventing copyright infringements. One notable approach within this framework is Wrapper-based Digital Rights Management, which involves the encapsulation of digital content. This technique packages the content in a way that allows for monitoring and control through API-Hook technology, ensuring that the content can be securely accessed and used. Wrapper-based DRM not only safeguards the content but also facilitates user authentication. This can be achieved via a user’s machine serial number or through a smart card that connects over a network. As a result, users can seamlessly access and utilize digital content without the need to modify or change their existing digital content players or software. This flexibility enhances user experience while maintaining the integrity of the content. In alignment with the broader definition of Digital Rights Management, this paper introduces a comprehensive digital publication issuing mechanism. This mechanism is specifically designed to support superdistribution—the process of distributing digital publications widely while maintaining effective control over their use. By implementing such a system, publication providers can not only promote their digital offerings more effectively but also contribute to the ongoing development and innovation within the realm of digital content, ensuring that creators and stakeholders can thrive in a secure and dynamic digital landscape.
