Abstract:

In order to further enrich the physics program of the ongoing ALICE experiment at Large Hadron Collider at CERN, a newly designed Electromagnetic Calorimeter based on Si detector technology, is being proposed as a possible upgrade in the Forward pseudo rapidity region. Si sensors are expected to play an extremely important role in the upgrades of the existing ALICE PMD detector at CERN, Geneva for future high luminosity environment. However, the various electrical properties of the silicon sensors have to be studied prior to their putting up in the extremely high luminosity condition. As a part of our collaboration with the ALICE Experiment, we have been working on the development of Si- sensor characterization system here at Jammu University. This work reports the automation and installation of current-voltage (I-V) and capacitance-voltage (C-V) systems at JU and both these systems have been automated using the LabView software.
