Abstract:

In Nigeria, information and communication technology (ICT) seems to play vital role in the overall effectiveness of the Universal Basic Education (U.B.E) programme. However, this programme has been hampered by a number of implementation challenges. The present study identified the challenges faced by teachers while implementing the Universal Basic Education programme. Two research questions guided the study. Simple random sampling was used in drawing respondents. The questionnaire for the study was designed by the researcher. Data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The findings of the study revealed the challenges that are faced by teachers in the implementation of Universal Basic Education. Finally, conclusions with some recommendations were made. Also, philosophical implication for infusion of information and communication technology was discussed.
